Therapeutic day treatment

HOC is licensed by the VDBHDS to provide Therapeutic Day Treatment to children and adolescents in the public-school setting. The focus of the program includes therapeutic interventions paired with education and mental health treatment. Students in the program receive services to include: group and individual counseling, psycho-educational groups, social skills guidance, medication education, and skill-building instruction.  The summer program is designed to bridge the gap between school years.  This program helps at-risk youth maintain the skills gained from the previous year. In addition, the summer program offers all of the therapeutic interventions, community involvement, and recreation elements of the aforementioned TDT with a heightened emphasis on community involvement and recreation.

SEBS
(Social, emotional, behavioral support)

This program aligns with Virginia’s vision for social emotional learning. Staff work with students who might have deficits in the five SEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making.  This program is for those students that require extra support throughout the day for a variety of reasons (peer conflict, relationship with authority figures, problem solving, impulse control, hyperactivity, physical and verbal aggression, anxiety, depression, trauma responses, etc.)
