How did we get here?
In 2004, two compassionate women came together with a shared passion for helping children in need. They envisioned a way to provide the best possible support for these children and realized that the key to their success was to empower them with life skills. Carrington Connelly, an educator who was dedicated to improving her students' learning, recognized that many of them faced difficulties when asked to apply advanced thinking skills. She observed that these children lacked crucial skills such as emotional control, adaptability, risk-taking, and self-monitoring. Martha Houck, a counselor, helped Carrington understand the reasons behind these children's struggles. Together, they founded Harvest Outreach Center, with the aim of empowering children to thrive. Their vision and dedication have given children the tools they need to succeed and make a difference in their lives.
